History
Langeroud School of Nursing and Midwifery was established through the merging of Langeroud and Lahijan Schools. After the Islamic revolution of Iran, Zeynab School of Nursing and Midwifery in Lahijan admitted students at bachelor’s level in Nursing in 1988 and at associate level in Midwifery in 1991. In the meantime, Langeroud School of Nursing started its activities with the admission of guest students in 1990 and B.Sc. Nursing students in 1991 subsequently. Then in 2005 these two schools merged together and development of new facilities as well as acquisition of necessary approvals made it feasible to admit students at bachelor’s level in Midwifery. Since 2014-2015 this school also offers courses at M.Sc. level in Geriatric Nursing.
Present Status
Langeroud School of Nursing and Midwifery is located in the east of Guilan province, in the tourist and prosperous spot of Layla kooh, Langeroud. Currently, this school benefits from resourceful professors and accepts students in different fields including B.Sc. of Nursing, B.Sc. of Midwifery and M.Sc. of Geriatric nursing. With the aim of cultivating efficient and capable medical staff and improving knowledge in education, research and health levels, the school provides excellent facilities for academics and students that along with the abilities of its faculty members and staff make it an outstanding academic and research center in the country. In this regard, the school has facilities such as classes with audio-visual equipment, conference hall and workshop rooms, amphitheater, moulage and different skill lab rooms with various scientific laboratories such as microbiology & parasitology; hematology, immunology & serology; chemistry & biochemistry; tissue engineering and so on. Also educational hospitals such as Shahid Hosseinpour, Dr. Pirooz, Kosar, Shahid Ansari, Shafa, Pour.Sina, Alzahra hospital are used for residency activities.
To be accepted in the programs offered by the school, Iranian students should take the National Entrance Exam, administered by the Ministry of Education. The academic schedule at the school is term-based. The autumn term begins in September and ends in January, the spring term begins in February and ends in June.
